Distributed water solutions have enormous potential to support the infrastructure needs of American communities in concert with our centralized conventional systems.

Many communities have some of version of distributed infrastructure programming in place, either through efficiency rebates, or pilot GSI Programs, or a watershed protection program. In general, however, these programs are small scale and represent a tiny part of utility investment.

Realizing the full range of water and community benefits that can be provided by reuse, green infrastructure, conservation, source water protection, water tech, and more requires a shift in how we think about and invest in water infrastructure.

This Distributed Infrastructure Toolkit is designed to help water leaders navigate the types of policy, legal, financial and other questions that arise when upscaling sustainable solutions for their communities.
