Overview:
Involving community members in utility planning and decision-making can restore trust in utility operations, increase resident participation in utility programs, and support the goal of transforming a water utility into an anchor institution. In this webinar, we’ll explore the Building Blocks of Trust framework for developing community partnerships, through two real-world examples. Pima County Regional Flood Control District and the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department work on different goals in different parts of the country, but share the goal of involving residents in their projects to streamline and improve the effectiveness of their efforts. We’ll hear from David Fielder on how the lead service line replacement program in Detroit has benefited from involving residents in its implementation, and from Nichole Casebeer on how participatory planning has supported efforts to implement Green Stormwater Infrastructure in Pima County.
