Lead Service Line Replacement Factsheet

Lead typically enters drinking water through corrosion of lead service lines. According to the EPA and CDC, lead poses serious health risks, especially to children. Under the EPA’s 2024 Lead and Copper Rule, communities are required to inventory and replace these lines. Colorado’s SRF program offers financing to help communities meet this public health mandate.

Colorado’s Drinking Water Revolving Fund (DWRF) can fund a variety of lead service line replacement initiatives. WaterNow’s Lead Service Line Replacement Factsheet provides an overview of how the DWRF can help communities pay for replacements, including on private property.
