Well & Septic Pilot Assistance Fund Community Engagement and Outreach Toolkit

Wake County partnered with WaterNow through the Project Accelerator program to develop a targeted outreach and engagement strategy focusing on increasing awareness, building trust, and making it easier for community members to participate in the County’s financial assistance program for well and onsite wastewater systems repairs. This roadmap outlines short, medium, and long-term strategies outlined in four key opportunity areas:

(1) Expansion of existing partnerships with community organizations;

(2) Targeting outreach to areas with high need and/or eligibility;

(3) Integrating well and septic information into broader messaging, like the County’s homeownership and maintenance content; and

(4) Incorporating storytelling into informational content by, for instance, featuring testimonials from past participants in outreach materials.
