Building Trust Between Water Utilities & Community Organizations
Community Engagement
Sharpsburg is a small Pennsylvania borough of 3,400 residents located along the Allegheny River, a few miles northeast of Pittsburgh. The Borough’s position at the bottom of multiple watersheds makes it extremely vulnerable to flooding. City staff reached out to WaterNow for support in creating a request for proposals (RFP) and budget to develop a stormwater management plan.
The project laid a strong groundwork for a Comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan, empowering the community to leverage limited tax dollars and use grant funding to make the biggest impacts on protecting the health and safety of residents, properties, and public assets.
