Waterwise Landscape Case Study Database

Converting traditional lawns to drought-resistant and climate appropriate landscaping has the potential for significant water savings across Colorado as well as providing multiple additional benefits (see Transforming Non-Functional Turf Across the West for a deeper dive into success stories, customizable tools, and financing pathways your community can use to advance turf conversion programs and policies). Low water use landscaping is cost effective, can reduce maintenance needs, and is one strategy in the toolbox to further increase municipal water efficiency and meet the water demand reduction goals in the Colorado River Basin states.

This database is designed as an easy to access resource for communities across the west to adapt to advance waterwise landscaping in their communities by drawing on the successes of other communities in Colorado and across the west. It’s organized into three searchable sections with examples of ready-to-use messaging, engagement strategies, and outreach materials to support waterwise landscaping and turf conversion programs
