WaterNow’s Emerging Leader Award supports water utility staff working to transform their utilities and the water sector in support of principles of sustainability and equity. In this webinar, WaterNow brings together past Emerging Leader Award recipients to hear how their careers and their projects have developed and evolved since receiving their Awards. Join us for a panel discussion touching on the professional journeys of these water leaders, the ways they’ve navigated professional development opportunities, promotions, and mentorship, and the challenges they’ve overcome to get where they are today.

Speaker Highlights:


Jenyffer Vasquez, Calleguas Municipal Water District
2023 Emerging Leader Award Recipient

Jenyffer Vasquez is the Principal Water Resource Specialist for Calleguas Municipal Water District. In this role, she engages in planning and implementing various programs and projects within the District’s Water Resources department, including agency annexations, water use planning and efficiency, and data management, reporting and compilation.


Lily Lopez, Walnut Valley Water District
2022 Emerging Leader Award Recipient

Lily Lopez is director of external affairs at Walnut Valley Water District, where she has overseen strategic communications and public education efforts since 2019. Previously, she worked for two communications consultants handling a variety of assignments.


Meagan Williams, City of New Orleans

2021 Emerging Leader Award Recipient
Meagan Williams is a Civil Engineer and a registered Professional Engineer. She serves as the Urban Water Program Manager for the City of New Orleans Office of Resilience and Sustainability, focusing on planning and implementing stormwater management practices, policies, and initiatives throughout the New Orleans Area
