Building Resilience in Rural Water Systems (Part 2)
More Details
Overview & Objectives: Rural water systems are increasingly challenged by changing weather patterns, natural disasters, aging infrastructure, and limited funding—pressing decision-makers to develop effective, resilient strategies in the face of these complex realities. This webinar, the second in a two-part series, will explore practical strategies for advancing community resilience, featuring research insights and highlighting real-world examples of successful approaches at water systems across the country.
This webinar series has three objectives:
- Describe the effect of changing weather patterns, natural disasters, and other emerging risks on rural water systems, and the considerations decision-makers face in creating strategies and responses that build resilience to these changes (the first installation in this series focused on this objective);
- Explore practical pathways to and examples of successful approaches to fostering resilience in rural water management; and
- Demonstrate the types, forms, and availability of technical assistance for small, rural and tribal communities, to address these challenges.
This webinar will focus on the strategies communities are implementing to address the challenges of managing water in a changing climate, sharing real-world examples of communities strengthening the resilience of their water and wastewater systems. These strategies and examples will highlight efforts from rural communities across the US, including firsthand insights from a community engagement professional in Eastern Kentucky on building local water resilience.across the country.
