John is a member of Boulder's Water Resources Advisory Board, which advises City Council, the Planning Board, and city staff on water, wastewater, and stormwater flood issues.

Professionally, John is a Water Policy Analyst for Western Resource Advocates, a conservation non-profit based in Boulder. John works on a variety of urban water conservation issues, including helping communities integrate their water and land use planning.

John has a PhD in Environmental Studies/Water Policy from the University of Colorado - Boulder and a MHS in Environmental Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
