The AZ Pure Water Brew Challenge is a statewide campaign to better inform Arizonans about water issues, water reuse and technologies currently available to purify recycled wastewater producing safe, high-quality drinking water.
To help spread the word, we built a mobile advanced water purification facility that produced Pure Water that was given to craft brewers for a statewide beer competition. The water purification facility, or “beer truck,” also traveled the state, engaging the public in conversations about water reuse, offering tours of the treatment process, and conducting short surveys. The survey results will be analyzed at the end of the year to help determine if the project was successful in changing public opinions about water reuse. Throughout the project a contractor has also been conducting a longitudinal media survey that is tracking how the Pure Water Brew Challenge is being talked about in mainstream and social media to see if there has been a shift in the type, extent, and sentiment of coverage.
