Lyons, CO
Strengthening Community Resilience Through Green Stormwater Infrastructure Our Approach Project OutcomesProject Goal
WaterNow Alliance is partnering with the Town of Lyons to support the integration of Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) into local policies and design standards. The project will help Lyons align its stormwater, resilience, and sustainability goals with practical updates to the Town’s Construction Design Manual and Municipal Code. This project will equip Lyons with clear, actionable guidance to advance green stormwater infrastructure as part of its stormwater management approach. By identifying policy pathways, reducing implementation barriers, and highlighting peer community best practices, the effort supports Lyons’ goals to reduce runoff, improve water quality, and strengthen resilience to flooding, wildfire impacts, and changing climate conditions.
Our Approach
Lyons faces unique stormwater challenges due to its topography, burn scar impacts, and limited stormwater utility resources. Through a phased approach, WaterNow will review existing Town policies, research peer community GSI standards, and identify practical opportunities to integrate green infrastructure into development requirements. Recommendations will be tailored to Lyons’ priorities, capacity, and regulatory context.
Outcomes
This project is currently underway. Stay tuned as WaterNow develops policy recommendations and implementation pathways that support expanded use of green stormwater infrastructure and long-term community resilience.
