Our next Project Accelerator round is now open! This round will focus on Colorado communities, providing 250 hours of pro-bono assistance to support innovative projects in sustainable and equitable water management. The Accelerator is open to cities, towns, or special districts responsible for drinking water, wastewater, and/or stormwater services.
Over the past three Colorado Project Accelerator rounds, WaterNow has worked with 20 communities to create tailored solutions to their water challenges. In 2024, we selected five projects in Colorado, including drafting waterwise updates to the Town of Erie’s landscape ordinance; developing a commercial, industrial, and institutional turf conversion program for the City of Fountain; supporting Colorado Springs Utilities’ efforts to create a water conservation education plan for the landscape industry; helping Commerce City and South Adams County Water and Sanitation District explore residential turf replacement program options; and creating a strategic roadmap for water conservation and efficiency programs in the City of Alamosa.
WaterNow works with each community to develop a Project Accelerator that best supports their unique needs. Through Project Accelerator, WaterNow can support communities with program design and management, policy and legal analysis, community stakeholder outreach, communications strategy, data analysis, and sustainability expertise. During the application process, communities can select the type of support they are looking to receive. If their project is selected, we’ll work with them to co-create a detailed work plan to receive WaterNow’s support over the next six to twelve months.
Each project is unique, but also incorporates the goals of implementing sustainable solutions, advancing social equity, and fostering climate resilience. To see additional examples of past projects, view responses to frequently asked questions, or to apply, visit WaterNow’s website. Applications will close Friday, February 7, 2025.
