Northeast

The Northeastern US is a center of activity on green stormwater infrastructure.

WaterNow has made its largest commitment of resources outside of the West in Pennsylvania where we have staff in both Philly and Pittsburgh working on GSI.

WaterNow has been working for many years with the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) and a coalition of local organizations to address the City’s stormwater and CSO challenges. PWD has made a groundbreaking commitment to GSI, and our focus has been to facilitate efforts to expand and scale implementation on private properties across the service area.

In Pittsburgh, we’ve been working with the City and water utility to lay the groundwork for an ambitious program to repurpose vacant lots to capture stormwater and develop green amenities for local communities. Just outside of Pittsburgh in the Saw Mill Run watershed, WaterNow created a roadmap for the 12 municipalities to coordinate on stormwater management, which stands as an example that can be replicated in other watersheds throughout the region and beyond.
