This is a two part webinar series. Part 1 took place on October 21. You can find the recording and slides here.

Part 2: will be held on November 18, 2025 at 10 am-11am Pacific / 1pm-2pm Eastern. Register here.

Overview & Objectives:

Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) – which occurs when stormwater and groundwater enter the sewage collection system – poses a wide array of challenges for wastewater utilities, from overwhelmed wastewater treatment plants to basement back-ups. This webinar, featuring Moonshot Mission’s recently released Inflow and Infiltration Guidance Document, will provide an overview of the causes of I&I, describe its impacts on stormwater and wastewater management, and share approaches that communities can use to understand and address inflow and infiltration challenges in their own systems.

These presentations have 4 objectives:

  1. Describe the causes and impacts of I&I;
  2. Outline approaches to assessing and evaluating vulnerabilities to I&I in wastewater management systems;
  3. Share solutions for addressing I&I, from sewer repairs to green stormwater infrastructure to building public awareness; and
  4. Highlight funding, financing and technical assistance available to implement strategies for addressing I&I.

Panelists for the October session will include:

  • Andy Kricun, P.E., Principal, Moonshot Missions
  • Rania Bashar, PhD, P.E., Senior Program Manager, Moonshot Missions
  • Nick Meurer, Utility Advisor, Moonshot Missions
  • Amy Weinfurter, Director of Strategic Projects, WaterNow Alliance (Moderator)
